Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is designed to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an e-mail message can be sent from one e-mail, but to appear as being sent from a different, usually with the purpose to scam the recipient someway. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a special record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers around the world receive it. The record contains all the e-mail servers that are permitted to send authentic messages from an e-mail address within the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and if its sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the targeted receiver. If, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the specified domain, the email message won't be submitted and it will be removed. In case you use this service, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam emails that seem to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Shared Website Hosting

If you host your domains in a shared website hosting account on our end and we handle the e-mails for them, you'll be able to enable SPF protection for any of them with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is available in its own section where you're able to see which domain names are currently protected. For those that are not, you will be able to activate the SPF protection solution and configure a variety of things at the same time - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, as well as to set a rule that email messages can be sent only if your domains include our MX records. The last choice is the most secure one, but it can be used in the event that we handle the emails for your domains and you're not using a different e-mail service provider. The newly generated records will propagate within one day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in a message by using your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection attribute is available with all of the semi-dedicated servers, so if you host your domains in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you're able to use this particular service without difficulty for all of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a quite easy to work with interface, so you don't need to be proficient in the use of computers to protected your e-mails. You'll simply need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be authorized to send e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be active for the domain name that you've picked. As an additional option, we will also give you the ability to control the outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes even further by permitting messages to be sent only if the domain in question features our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name should be managed here and not by some other supplier. Thus you will get even better control and there will not be any chance for someone to counterfeit your e-mail addresses for malicious objectives.
