The NS, or Name Server records of a domain, reveal which servers manage the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a particular host company for your domain is the easiest way to point it to their system and all its sub-records will be handled on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), and so forth, so if you would like to change any one of these records, you're going to be able to do it by using their system. In other words, the NS records of a domain address reveal the DNS servers which are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to obtain the DNS records of the Internet domain you want to access. This way the web site that you'll see is going to be retrieved from the right location. The name servers typically have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each domain address has at least 2 NS records. There isn't any practical difference between the two prefixes, so what type a website hosting provider is going to use depends only on their preference.

NS Records in Shared Website Hosting

In the event you register a domain name inside a shared website hosting account from our company, you're going to be able to handle its name servers without difficulty. This can be done via the Registered Domains section of the in-house built Hepsia website hosting Control Panel and with just a couple of clicks you'll be able to update the NS records of a single one or even several domains at a time, which can save you considerable time and efforts if you have a huge number of domains you want to forward to another provider. You can enter many name servers depending on how many the other company provides you with. In addition we enable you to create private name servers for any Internet domain registered via our company and in contrast to many other providers we don't charge anything extra for this service. The new NS records can be used to direct any other domain address to the hosting platform of the provider whose IPs you have used during the process, so each time you use our IPs for example, all domain addresses added to the account on our end can use these name servers.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The name servers for every domain that's registered through us can be changed with no more than a few mouse clicks via the leading-edge, albeit easy-to-use Hepsia CP that is included with all semi-dedicated server plans. It's just as easy to view the current NS records for a given domain name and to determine if they're the ones that are necessary for the domain name to be pointed to your hosting account. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, is user-friendly enough to enable you to control any domain name easily even if you have never dealt with such matters before. If you want, you may also register private name servers ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com and use them not just for the domain address under which they're created, but also for any other domain name that you would like to host within the same account. This option is very handy when you have clients of your own and you would like their websites to use your own name servers instead of our default ones. The service is 100 % free.
